Orientation week is kinda like being thrown in the deep end of a pool when you still don't quite know how to swim and you still need floaties to keep from sinking. It's a wild ride from start to finish, and the best bit... everyone is in the same boat.
Being a scarfie is tough sometimes, from the day I got to Dunedin and all through Ori-week, I drank and went out 11 nights in a row. It was great, it was the most social I had ever been. But if I'm being honest, I really did put the fresh in fresher, I was obnoxiously drunk and loud, advertising to all 2nd, 3rd and 4th years that this was in fact my very first week not living at home under my parents rule. (Not to mention my Ori wristband that was a dead giveaway I was a fresher)
If I'm fully honest with you, I can't remember too much of Orientation week, but tickets all up cost me over 200 dollars, not including any of the alcohol that I bought. Say goodbye to my course related costs... oops!
All of the concerts that I went to during Ori blurred into one big night, they were all at the Forsyth Barr Stadium and each time I was so heavily under the influence that I was just enjoying myself dancing and socializing with all the people I had just met from my college.

Toga Party was first, and being a fresher we were all worried about being egged on the way there by bitter 2nd years. A common fear on Toga Party night I was told.
I cannot believe how long it took a group of us to actually figure out how to tie a toga. We watched endless how to videos on YouTube, which really didn't hep much as we were all rather rubbish at it. Finally I figured it out! I got my toga to look semi acceptable, I put my leaf headband on and we were away, I helped all the other girls with there Toga's as we headed down to our Common room to have a quick meal before we took photos and were off.
We opted for the safest route, by taxi of course, which didn't turn out as well as planned as 2nd years then took to through bottles at the taxi.
I had the best time, and would definitely recommend getting involved if the opportunity ever presented itself. Orientation week was a great time!
Till next time, Hannah.
