Waking up that Saturday I felt nervous but excited, it was official, no more living at home!
Id been packing my room at home for the last few weeks and I was taking my sweet time with it. It was harder than I thought it would be, I mean I was packing up my childhood and putting it in boxes. A feeling I was not at all familiar with, seeing as I had never moved houses before.
To say i over packed was an understatement, there was barely enough room for me in the car let alone everything I brought with me. Let me tell you now, I don't regret bringing anything with me, and I can’t deny that most of it can be seen in the photo below, All of it really did make my room feel like home.
(Plus my room wouldn’t look as pretty without it all)

It took me a full day to unpack and set up my room but the most important part of it was not actually making my room look like home, it was going round the college and meeting the people that I’d be living with for the next year.
A bunch of girls, my roomie from next door included, took to exploring all of the college and looking at everyone’s rooms and meeting them. This was one of the highlights of my day. Not only am I still close with a couple of those girls but they have been fundamental to my college life, I honestly couldn’t imagine Toroa without them!
At the end of the day, saying goodbye to my parents was hard, I was completely giving up my comfortable, sheltered life and moving on in the world, I mean I still don’t really know how to do my washing right without shrinking everything. But I’m learning and I think that is what I love most about moving out and living with a bunch of strangers for a year. I can proudly say I’ve learnt more in the past six months of my life than I ever did in high school.
My parents should be proud.
More to come soon, Hannah.
